We are God’s Co-Workers

We all want a healthy parish, a peaceful place where people live and work together in harmony. We all have ideas about how to make that happen. The big question is, who will make that happen? For us at St. Nicholas today – only we can. There are no proverbial “they.” We can’t leave it to “them.” We are our parish. The more connected to a community we feel, the more likely we are to take responsibility for the community and feel a sense of commitment. It is important for each and everyone of us, beginning with the rector and ordained clergy, to have specific service commitments within the ministry groups in order to be properly tethered to the day to day life of the whole community. Without these commitments as individuals, we can easily isolate and drift away. Without these commitments as community, St. Nicholas parish as we know it can cease to exist.
